I have come to the realization that I stand in my own way 9 times out of 10. What I mean by that is that I tend to over think things through often. How many time do you have a dream or goal that you are trying to tackle and you find yourself in the same spot where you left off 6 months into it. Why is that!? It is probably because you are like me and we suffer from the " perfection syndrom." You sit there thinking about all the things that could go wrong before they actually do go wrong. You constantly drive yourself crazy because maybe you have not figured out your marketing or cannot get your social media page right. I am here to tell you that it does not matter and you are holding yourself back!
Let me tell you my story. I probably had about 20 blog post ready to go with great content that the world needed to hear because at least 1 person would be helped from them over 2 years ago. Yes, in 2015 I had the blogs and started talking about what I wanted to do with UPLIFT, but I did not actually put out my content until late 2016. I was so worried about getting a web designer to put together this amazing site, and getting a team together to help me rebrand my social media. Although those things will ultimately help your brand and business in the long run, don't let it be the reason or roadblock the hinders you from going forward. When I launched UPLIFT I made a free blog off of weebly which took me about 5 hours to do. It was super basic, but guess what..... MY FOLLOWERS DID NOT CARE because the important part was my blogs, the content that was being put out.
I have a story about one of my good friends that I love to share. This young lady always dreamed of being a motivational speaker. She went to a women empowerment conference, and while being there she made some great contacts. She told everyone that she came in contact with that she was a speaker. Some may see it as she was telling a white lie; however, I see it as speaking things into existence. 2 weeks following the conference she received a call to book her for a speaking engagement at a local high school. At this stage in her life she did not have a website, she did not have fancy business cards, she also had no experience. None of those detailed things mattered because she had a gift. She went and spoke at the high school and that changed her career . After the speaking engagement along the way was when she nailed the details for her brand and business.
The moral of the story is sometimes you just have to GO and figure out the details along the way!
